Xan Northcott is currently the Program Coordinator at Friendship Ambassadors Foundation. He designs, develops, and implements programs and events, with a focus on the Foundation’s flagship conference: The Youth Assembly. Since joining the Foundation in the planning of the 20th Session of The Youth Assembly in 2016, he has worked with youth leaders and representatives from private companies, government, NGOs, and United Nations to continue the success and expand the network of the event, one of largest and longest-running gatherings of young leaders in the world.
Previously, he worked for Generation Citizen, a US-based non-profit that trains school students in the practical navigation of politics in order to enact change in their local communities. Other prior experience includes working on political campaigns in the US and his home country the UK, serving as a researcher for the merchant bank Invest Africa, and working for an educational charity in South Africa.
He has a B.A. in Politics and Economics Summa Cum Laude from New York University, where he also conducted original research on worldwide democracy promotion initiatives and learned French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. In addition, he held leading roles within the IR Insider, an online publication focused on international relations, and the UN Initiative group, a new club formed to bring UN officials and global leaders to the university for dialogue with students.
Xan is passionate about building a better world for the future, particularly through the action and engagement of young people in politics and sustainable development.
