Jason Scorza

Dr. Jason A. Scorza is Vice Provost for Academic and International Affairs and Professor of Political Science and Philosophy at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Scorza oversees the University’s global learning programs and international initiatives. Reporting to Dr. Scorza are the University Core Program, the Office of Global Learning, the Office of Global Partnerships, the Study Abroad Office, and the Office of Veterans Education.

Dr. Scorza is a major contributor to Fairleigh Dickinson University’s global education and distance learning initiatives, is co-recipient of the Instructional Technology Council (ITC) award for Outstanding Online Course, and recipient of the Sloan Consortium Award for Excellence in Online Teaching. Under his leadership, Fairleigh Dickinson University was recognized with a Spotlight Award by NAFSA: Association of International Educators for its exceptional use of technology to promote campus internationalization. His work in the area of distance learning has been featured in The New York Times and in The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Dr. Scorza is also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), a member of the Board of the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation (FAF), and a member of the UN ECOSOC’s Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Group.  In the past, he served as a Fellow of the American Council on Education, as the main curriculum coordinator for the WISE Program on Education Leadership, as an advisor to the African Union (AU) Department of Human Resources, Science, and Technology for the development of the Pan African University (PAU), as a member of the Board of the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO), as a member of the American Council on Education (ACE) Internationalization Collaborative Advisory Board, as a member of the ACE Council of Fellows Executive Board, and as a member of the Teaneck Fair Trade Steering Committee.

Dr. Scorza earned his Ph.D. in Politics at Princeton University and is author of a book—Strong Liberalism: Habits of Mind for Democratic Citizenship (Tufts University Press, 2007), as well as articles appearing in journals including Political TheoryThe Review of Politics, Theory and Research in Education, and the International Journal of Politics and Ethics, and an edited volume, Higher Education as a Bridge to the Future (Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 2016).
