Bio
A Punjabi Hip-Hop Artist who has used his music to raise awareness on the issues of Gender Equality and Human Rights in Canada and in India. Jagrit, a former Canadian Federal Public Servant has worked for the promotion of youth through his roles as a student and new hire ambassador to the Government of Canada’s department of Canada Revenue Agency as a part of Young Professionals Network. He is now a promising entrepreneur and owns his company called – EL Jaguar. Through his business, he has been supporting women in sports and young athletes with equipment sponsorship and clothing in India. Besides that, he is running his non-profit project called -‘Be YOU’ to promote inclusiveness amongst different communities and address the issues of stereotyping, bullying and labeling etc. As a part of this project, this year he lead a Punjabi Zumba session at the 68th UN Civil Society Conference to promote inclusivity and diversity in the UN system. He has organized various Turban Tying events in Canada to educate people on the significance of Turban and Beard in his community and break stereotypes. He moved to Canada in 2015 from India as an international student and have connected to the problems of various internationals who came to Canada for settlement. He worked as a Peer Mentor to the Canadian and International students and helped them in their smoother transition into the Canadian culture and environment. He wishes to engage more youth and connect their efforts to the UN 2030 agenda.
