Bio
Dana is a Qatari youth activist and recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown SFSQ. She majored in Culture and Politics with a focus on Cultural Diplomacy of the Middle East. Dana interned with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in NYC after having spent a year on Georgetown University’s main-campus in D.C. Passionate about SDG 4 and the right of access to education, she has taught English to students in Sri Lanka and Malaysia during high school and worked on developing education projects in Ethiopia and Kenya. Her Tedx talk “More Than A Label”, amongst other speeches, illustrates her passion about establishing the presence of strong women within the GCC and MENA region. Through her role as a Youth Advocate with the Education Above All Foundation (EAA), Dana partook in the UNGA HLTC on Children and Youth affected by Violent Extremism as a Qatar youth delegate. She also participated and advocated at the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly with EAA. She serves as Founder and President of Y17 Society, an organization that aims to increase the awareness and engagement of Qatari youth and civil society with the SDGs through providing workshops, mentorship and leadership opportunities. Dana firmly believes in the role of youth in global development and is inspired by the impact and potential of Qatari youth. Serving since the 23rd Session of the YA as an Ambassador, she is adamant on expressing the voice of the MENA region for the advancement and achievement of the SDGs.
